This book almost made it to 3 stars ; fell short because the timing with this story really doesn't work for me. Everything takes place between 72-96 hours. Making Savor a sort of ironic title, when the author seems to be in a rush. Leaving this reader both liking and disliking her story.

As someone who really likes the vampire genre. I always like to find books that have some uniqueness to their plots.
Savor does deliver this. By introducing us to 18 year old Claire Miller. Who lives in a society where vampire royal families rule over humans. Each human must register for a Donor I.D. card.

Claire's mother is a loyal vampire advocate and cannot wait for Claire to be registered. Nothing goes quite like Claire or the vampires are expecting when she signs up for her I.D.

Another one of the areas I didn't care for is; Claire's shifting emotional connections. Between her Mom , and her best friend Liz. She shifts between aloof and attached to them in different times in this short period of time. The same can be said about new friends Robin and Dmitry

Overall my opinion is that this series has potential to be good however, the ending makes me hesitant in buying book two. For now I will wait.

I've had this book and series on my wishlist for quite a while now, having heard nothing but good things about said series I was excited to finally have a chance to pick it up and I'm happy to say that I wasn't disappointed!
The concept that was brought to life to make this book into the exciting and addictively readable story that it is, was so well thought out and executed that it was a no-brainer that I would love it.
At the age if eighteen it is a requirement that everyone gets tested for their blood type which will then result in blood donations to be given every month to the Vampire Royal Family who rules over the Noire region.
It's through this test that Claire is found to have a rare blood type, so rare and pure that the King and Queen want Claire to join them as their Princess after being turned into a vampire herself.
But while she comes to care for her new 'parents' and potential vampire boyfriend Dmitry, not everyone is happy that she was picked to eventually rule the region and they will stop at nothing to make sure that it doesn't come to pass.
To protect her she is bonded to a blood mate Arrick (a personal bodyguard of sorts), which will have all the Claire/Dmitry fans headed for a love triangle when Claire finds herself drawn and attracted to Arrick and he to her.
But get set for a big twist at the end which was very well done, totally unexpected and which will have you highly anticipating the next book.
A very impressive series debut that will have you flipping through the pages to reach the shocking ending.

Claire just turned 18 so her mom is taking her down to the blood bank to be tested as a donor. In Claire's world, the vampire royals rule along with humans and humans donate blood to help feed vampires. They even learn all about vampire politics in school. The vampire King and Queen long ago wanted humans and vampires to be able to live in peace so they set up the donor system. Some humans are against this and protest but Claire's mom is a vampire activist and believes in working together for peace. The next day vampire royals show up at Claire's house claiming her blood is pure and special which has not happened in a hundred years. They would love for her to join their family and be their princess. Her mom supports vampires and is so excited that this opportunity has been given to her daughter. Claire is sad to give up her life but the King and Queen will treat her well and she will be able to make a difference and one day be Queen. Claire is learning to love life at the palace as a princess and has even become close with Dmitry another vampire that lives at the palace. Except she needs to stick with tradition and take a blood mate thus bringing in a very interesting love triangle with revealed secrets and a twist ending. I found all the characters intriguing and enjoyable. In the beginning I felt some details were cut short but as the story progresses I became very engrossed and the details of the ceremonies were unique. Also I became emotionally confused at the end because I absolutely loved Dmitry but at the end the blood mate really grew on me! Opens up so much more to happen!
This is an excellent beginning to a great series filled with palace intrigue and mysterious love. I have to admit the main reason I downloaded this book in the first place was because of the beautiful cover, although I still don't understand why it is called Savor. I was delighted by the voice of the main character and the fascinating things that happened to her as she turned 18.

Some spoilers
The first part of this story reminded me a lot of the "Princess Diaries" because of the regular girl suddenly finding out that she is to be royalty and moving into the palace where she basically has her "own mall" in her closet and a quirky friend and a possible new love. She also has an immediate enemy who resents her for taking her rightful place in the palace and for being a "commoner", not fit to rule. She even has to go through a coronation ball and is required to marry, I mean "bond". BUT, although there are a lot of similarities, this story is darker because of the whole blood drinking vampire part and it is so much more intriguing because you never know who is telling the truth. Claire is in so much more danger than she suspects and there is a mysterious man outside her window that she can feel herself unexplainably drawn to.

I have to admit, the best part of the story comes at the very end when everything gets very exciting and some mysteries are revealed. Up until this point, the reader is really just getting to know the characters and finding the back story to what is about to be revealed. Only we have to wait for the next installment to find out what that will be. In the mean time, I will read what else Megan Duncan has written and encourage her to Please Hurry up with this sequel.
