Summer Hayes has vowed to be single, forever.
She’s fiercely independent and loves sexy one night stands. But she’s also a woman who has vowed never to get emotionally close to any man after being badly hurt. She didn’t believe in love or romance. She’s never going to let a man own her heart, ever!
James Spence loves life and racing motorcycles – and he’s damn good at it!
His billions have bought him trips around the world as well as all the fast women that money can provide. But he’s guarded – never letting any woman close to him and never needing love or affection from anyone – he’s had his share of heartbreaks and doesn’t want to drive down that lane ever. He loved the freedom and joy racing gave him, and he would never sacrifice that for any woman.
Until he and Summer share one amazing night!
Summer lost her father in a racing accident, and because of that, she has vowed never to date someone who engages in extreme sports. They were reckless, and never faithful! But, James is everything Summer doesn’t want, and everything she truly needed! And James isn’t going to let Summer go until he breaks down her reservations!
STEEL eBook Mia Carson
Best thing about this story was, it was free. It was included in another book by this author so I know she can do much better than this. I am so not a prude and I've read and enjoyed plenty of stories masquerading as erotica. But this book was way too much with the sex scenes. If this is your thing then, ignore the rest of my review and enjoy.THIS REVIEW IS GONNA HAVE LOTS OF SPOILERS!!! There is no way to truly explain why I didn't like this book without spoilers. If you don't like spoilers, do not read this review.
To start off, both hero and heroine have sex with other people in this book. Major turn off for me. I'm good with an ex showing up but no sex with him/her.
And on to the spoilers/review.
So often the heroines in romances are lip biting and inexperienced. This gets dull. I like an experienced heroine and I like reading about women who are not afraid to be sexy but Summer was straight slut! When the book starts, Summer has a boyfriend. She treats him bad because she does not want to commit to a relationship with him though they've been together 6 months. Turns out she doesn't want to commit because her father was a race car driver and she thought he cheated on her mother.
James is from a stinking rich ($40 billion) family. He has no job or career. He just travels around the world racing motorcycles. He doesn't win (best finish was around 15th) or have corporate sponsors but he is popular (not sure why) and handsome. He loves racing to race so he does what he wants. When we meet him, he is having condom-free monkey sex with a track whore.
Summer is a PR executive. She is required to attend a party at the racetrack given by her client, a race sponsor. She meets James. She and James agree to have a one night stand cause he doesn't like commitment either. Summer and James have unprotected hot monkey sex in public within an hour of meeting. Then they continue to sex it up all night. Unprotected (detailed descriptions of him cumming in and on her). The next day, James thinks he is in love and wants a relationship. Summer, who is not very nice, does not. So, that night, Summer has unprotected sex with her ex-boyfriend to see if she can forget James and James starts having a threesome with two track whores.
Summer finds out about the threesome and refuses to talk to James. She's upset because he "cheated" even though she actually slept with her ex at the same time he was with the other girls and he explains that he didn't ultimately go through with the threesome. He has to grovel long distance to get her "back".
Gave this book 2 stars because the author is a good writer even if it was well written porn masquerading as erotica. Took off the three stars because I didn't particularly like either character. Summer was judgmental and not very nice and she didn't give anyone a chance. James should have walked away when he had the chance, As for James, I need my heroes to have a job or real goals. They don't have to have a fancy job but some goals other than what he was up to, I don't see how or when either of them fell in love with the other- they only had sex. Very little conversation. . And the ULTIMATE SPOILER...
At the end of the book, they are saying they love each other and she announces she is pregnant from their first encounter- the day before she slept with her ex. AND she figures the odds are in James' favor so she doesn't tell him about the other guy (who isn't a billionaire like James).
All this made this book a huge no for me! Luckily, this book came with a much better written story (lots of sex in that book too) so I will give this author another chance.

STEEL eBook Mia Carson Reviews
This was on fire from beginning to end.
You will NOT be disappointed trust me
HOT HOT HOT and even hotter
I enjoyed this story. It was nice to see Summer and James discussing their fears of commitment. And why. I am happy that James did something that he said he would never do. (You'll have to read it to find out.) Surprising how your attitude changes from what you THOUGHT you wanted to what you NEED.
This book is the reason I stopped reading these kinds of books. The whole time I was reading this book I was rolling my eyes and shouting, "Oh please! Give me a break!". WARNING, spoilers and a very honest review ahead
Summer Hayes is a player who does not want a commitment of any kind. In the opening scene, she is breaking it off with a guy she has been sleeping with for a while because she doesn't want any commitment. She works in public relations and is going to an extreme motor cross event to woo a new client who owns a tire company.
James Spence is a motor cross rider and he doesn't want any commitment either. He is in his 30's, enjoys riding bikes, apparently he is a billionaire, but I'm not exactly sure why.
They meet after Summer's new client gets sloppy drunk and has to end the night early. Summer and James end up on the roof having sex and then back in his room having sex all night long. they don't talk about themselves or even kiss each other. It's just hot sex. When it is over she leaves. they run into each other the next day and he finds out she works in PR and she finds out he is a rider. Which is a problem for her because her father was a rider too and all he did was travel, race, was never home, and he cheated on her mother. Which it is because of this cheating that she has had her 'no commitment' policy. She, of course, wants him again, and he wants her too, but she isn't willing to hook up with him again because she knows if it happens she will be addicted to him. They have an unsatisfying encounter for both of them and then she runs again. While they are separated he almost has a three-some with the equivalent of ring girls for motor-cross but stops because he thinks he is in love with Summer. It is just that easy. One night together and conversation about how neither of them wants a commitment and he is in love. While apart she does have sex with her ex-booty call person but also realizes she has deeper feelings for James.
When they reunite, she stumbles upon the information that he almost had a 3 some with some motor-cross hoes, and she gets upset! Yes, the girl who has done nothing but preach how she doesn't want a commitment, and who has just had sex with an ex, is now upset with him. She is so upset she won't talk to him and rushes back home to Austin, which is several hours away from wherever they are. I had lost interest already by this point, but this really made me roll my eyes.
The rest of the book is exactly how you would expect it to be with insta love and family. Yes, I did write family. But if I were James, I wouldn't be asking for a paternity test.
