A well written mix of reality and fantasy.Reality: Teenage girls do get pregnant because boys and girls don't understand what they're doing. and their boyfriends are often unwilling to take on responsibility. Likewise the boy's parents might not want anything to do with the girl. If the girl is fortunate, as in this book, they will have a supportive family to help her.
Fantasy: Demi is just too nice. Sure she's true-to-life furious with rat-bag Anthony to begin with, but the way she is drawn back to him - I can't see it happening after 4 years of neglect. It's also nice to imagine them getting married and living happily ever after but, call me a cynic with two 20+ daughters of my own, I can't see that either. A bit too Hallmark.
Having said that, apart from occasional grammatical errors, the book is well written. The characters are well described and we mostly understand their motives. The dialog is good. The author uses words economically so the book is not long but I don't feel that it's rushed. I'd recommend it if you're looking for a light-hearted romance.

Just Like Heaven edition by Clarissa Carlyle Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
The reason I rated this book so high is....the story was so beautiful and wonderful to read. .could not put it down...if you like love stories and a little bit of mystery and suspense than this is the book for you..
This was a great book! It was a page turner, I didn't want to put it down and read it in one night. Great romance that people can relate to. This is the first book of Clarissa Carlyle's that I have ever read and I will be looking for more books to read by her!
I'm not quite sure how I feel about this book. It was a quick read. While it was about teens who grow up, it was quite mature subject matter. I did appreciate that the sex was not descriptive, but there was quite a bit of it.
I did like the story but she was way to forgiving. It had it's sweet and tender moments. I loved Jared he was so sweet but so sick. Just wish he had a happy ending but he did in a way. Worth the purchase and time.
I love a good coming of age romance story and this one did not disappoint. The characters were well done and completely believable. Not everything was roses for our heroine, Demi, and the hero of the story's character left something to be desired, completely shirking his responsibilities when Demi needed him most.
But I get that... he was very much under the influence of his controlling father. To me this made the story all the more believable. After all, girls do get themselves into trouble, and guys don't always do the right thing; that's so true to life.
And teenagers don't always have the most perfect parents in the world. There were times when I found myself really getting angry at Arthur's parents. I did admire Demi's dad a lot though. He was so warm and loving for his daughter, just a little lost on how to deal with the situation sometimes, but he was always there for her.
The one character to really be admired was Jarred, Arthur's little brother. Hard to admit, but at one point I did cry a little and that isn't easy for any book to bring out in me. So I give it 5-stars for bringing that emotion out in me.
The story flowed smoothly from beginning to end, with lots of twists and turns to keep the story fun and interesting. Great ending too.
Very well written and highly recommended if you enjoy coming of age romance stories.
While I don't like anything about the situation, I can't say that what happened in this story doesn't happen in real life. Therefore, I've got to admit that the author was true to life. That being said, I didn't feel sorry for the female lead character and I felt only contempt for the male lead.
Hard to like a novel when you don't like any of the characters.
Not a bad novel and it offers plot twists but it reads a little too much like a daytime talk show.
Life is hard and at times we create even harder situations for ourselves. But even out of those poor decisions we can grow and hopefully reclaim what we toss away. This story is a sweet reminder of that.
A well written mix of reality and fantasy.
